  Kay Osborn
Director of Weekday School and Great Beginnings
sawdskay@earthlink.net

Kay began her tenure as Director in August, 2003. She began her work in Early Childhood during her college years as a two-year-old teacher in a child care center. Her 23-years career journey lead her to teaching Child Development with high school students, providing kindergarten readiness in the summer to rural children with assistance from high school students, creating labs for preschool children with San Antonio high school students, directing an employer-supported child care center in San Antonio, working with Avance in the Kindergarten Readiness Program, and teaching on the adjunct faculty at San Antonio College's Early Childhood Studies Department. Kay has a master’s degree in Child Development from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Her philosophy of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (the school’s philosophy, as well) guides St. Andrew’s in working with young children to give them the best learning environment and opportunities for learning based on their individual needs. Kay believes that programs for young children should focus on the whole child, including the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive domains.
